Overview
The purpose of this project was to understand not only different philosophies and their versions of justice but to develop and understand our own. Initially we were studied the different philosophies of justice and how people with these philosophies might react to certain situation. We were then asked the question "who or what is capable of receiving justice?" This eventually lead to Environmental Justice. Our Bears Ears debate furthered our knowledge of Environmental Justice and it impact on us a humans. This in particular was really interesting because we had to study both sides of the story which developed a lot of new and critical thinking. For examples of justice action we watched the films "True Justice" and "Beyond Standing Rock" that helped us develop ideas of how we can use what we are learning to benefit the community.
After we completed our background research we created justice monologs which included the philosophies we learned about, a problem, and a solution to that problem backed up with case studies. For the final project we went out to the community with the goal of bettering it. I was part of a group focused on brining awareness to the environments deteriorated state. To do this we created a large store front window painting. We decided to use the paintings publicity to direct money towards another group focused on planting trees on our go fund me (see link below).
